The pods of the Drumstick or Moringa tree are long, smooth-skinned, dark green, and three-sided. The pods, which can reach anywhere from 6 to 18 inches in length, are soft when mature and have bumps that run the length of the pod, revealing the seed nodes. Within the pods are a fleshy pulp and pea-sized seeds encased in wing-shaped hulls. The Drumsticks are tapered at each end. Moringa pods are bitter with a somewhat sweet taste; their muted flavor allows for a variety of seasoning options.

Indian Drumsticks, or Moringa, are the immature seed pods of the Moringa oleifera tree. Despite having been an integral part of diet across Asia for many years, drumsticks are now being recognised all across the world. They have even been named a ‘superfood’ due to all of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients they contain and the good that they can do for us. Even when boiled, drumsticks remain particularly high in vitamin C and they are also a good source of B-vitamins, vitamin A, dietary fibre, iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc and manganese. They also contain many antioxidants which helps in fighting illnesses and consuming them may help overcome fatigue.
